I've gotten hold of a motorhome 440 which a low compession engine. I will just use this for a cruising car. I'm thinking a cam about 477/480 with 110 lobe separation and a performer intake maybe way to go with this engine. I don't have any experiance other than what I have read. Any ideas?

Sounds about right. I'd go with the bigger of the two Summit cam kits (cheaper than anything else) and should work fine for your setup. Keep the gears mild, too (3.23 or 3.55). Adjust from there.

We did one of those a few years back with a very similar RV cam, a performer intake and a 600 Carter AVS. Also added some headers from a pickup I think, but the dual exhaust really woke the big motor up! Stay with the smallest primaries you can fimd (probably 1 3'4" or so). That will help the cam work down low where you need it.
