Ok i have a 1978 440 all stock and I'm guessing these are low comp. and low hp now my question is .

I have a set of .030 over flat top six pack pistons if I use these pistons are they taller than what's in that 78 motor and what kind of comp will I have say 9.0/9.5/10.0/10.5

I would like a ball park please , I just want a little more power out of it.

And it will have a hyd. .484 .484 cam in it

Thanks Mike

Yes they are taller. Depending upon the size of the combustion chamber of your 452 heads, you'll be some where around 8.9-9.5:1. That is what we had when we dyno tested this engine with those pistons.

Thanks cool read.

The pistons I have are the 2350p sealed power , now with the 77-78 block what would I need to do to get 10.5 - 11.0 comp. what head cc and what deck height.

How much taller are the 2350p pistons compared to the 1977-78 stock pistons

a 78cc head and an uncut block will have about a .020" deck clearance with the 2.06" comp. distance 6 pack piston, use a thin steel shim gasket for about 10.6:1. the stock 8.0:1 piston is 1.92" comp d.
