440 distributor

my vacum advance pod broke off the side of distrib can a 400 distrib vacum work on the 440 distributor or can the 400 ditrib work on the 440

The 400 distributor won't work since it is shorter than the 440 piece. The vacuum advance can is a straight swap though. The only difference between the two distributors is the length of the drive shaft.
