Has anybody bought a pair of these? I'm looking for a reasonably priced set of heads I can experiment with and take a grinder to, kind of go crazy on them without breaking the bank. I realize that they will never compare to an Indy or B1-Bs but the price is right and i'm a hands on do it myself bracket racer. The 906's on my car flow 290 after extensive port work and they work well but are fragile. If I could get a pair of the aluminum heads up to the 320-330 range I would be happy.

I don't know if they can go that far... I havent done any myself so perhaps others will chime in. I know they are pretty good in terms of port shape as cast. So it's not hard to go to 300 or so by hand or CNC but to go another 20-30 I'm not sure about it.

I had one of the very first sets and the intake went something like 250 on a 4.350 fixture with a little bit of love (bit more than a std clean up)...
But hell for $700 or $800 for a pair you can not complain...
Will they go 330 cfm...anythings posible...:dontknow:

I don't think i'll gain much over what I have now. I think i'll be much happier down the road if I pony up the extra money for a head that has the potential to flow large amounts. The new motor is going to be a 500 so it'll need more air.

I've got a set of the stealth heads on my 440. I bolted them on right out of the box and picked up 4 tenths and 5 mph over the heavily ported 906 castings that they replaced. I have no idea what my old heads flow so I can't really help you out in that area. I can tell you they are a very nice product and you definitely can't beat the price.

Moparracer, I am in the situation you are asking about right now. While many of these heads are good pieces and some may flow ok numbers ie in the low 300's that are still small port volume street heads and will never give you the room or options to easily make bigger power numbers.

EZ-1's or Victors would be my choices...

yea I got 440 ez-1 heads with some good work to them they flowed 250/350 on a 498. makes good power on pump gas too

I just had my fingers in a set of the "source" Stealth heads for the second or third time ? I forget, just never paid much attention to them ? they were Customer supplied for a 438 street engine.
IMO
Pretty straight forward and "simple" Head, as it should be for the Price, Price being the keyword in regards to R & D ?
I did not Flow them, can't see the point, but I suspect, probably, that the law of "diminishing returns" of Flow Gains to Dollars spent would very quickly stack up, in what is a VERY WELL designed, and TRUE to it's design parameters, a "Street" Head.

Again IMO,
The Stealths with "Minor"work, are Head and Heels above any Iron Head, but just be careful NOT to get upside down, trying to make a RACE Head out of them ?
I would suggest, Budgetary, they only be considered up to 600hp on smaller engines with limited "expandibility" ? 550-600hp 451 combo's ?

Ive got a set they look good with a lot of meat(for milling or decking) they are supposed to be good up 600 lift I cant remember what the stock flow chart said but Im putting them on a 10/1 40 over 440 with a tunnel ram with two 600's. The cam Ive got is a 605 lift solid lifter. I hope to be putting it together before spring. If i do Ill post what I can about the heads.

Thanks for the input. I know what I have to do. The iron heads i am running took copious amounts of work to get to work, including epoxy and some minor welding. Not going to put that much work into heads again that are going to stall early like these did. There is only so much you can do with a poor short side and bowl area. I'm already hovering around 600 so what's the point? Time to step up to a race head if I want race results.
