5.9 started idling quite high

They're notorious for TPS failures. They wont set a code often until it totally craps the bed. I was going to suggest the "tap & wiggle" test to see if it affects it. If you have access to a scan tool that can data stream look at the TPS Voltage at idle. It should be near a half a volt.
It sounds like you found your culprit.

OK, that makes sense. FWIW, Del, my son replaced them every year or less for a while on his 4.7 when using box store TPS's; evne the NAPA ones did not last well. Garbaaaage....

He went to the Dodge dealer for an OEM one last time, and it looks to be holding up well. It might be worth it for you to do this. And, yes, usually no codes unless really bad as said above..

I "celebrated" when I got'er done. Some of you may remember I recently had the last of my teeth pulled. My gums are finally "about" healed up. So I went up to Carls and bought a couple of plain hamburgers with mayo and mustard, and a big ice tea. Unfortunately, my favorite blonde was not workin today.

So drove it maybe 5 miles. Runs good ag'in
