5 speeds

-
The Passon Performance 5-Speed is supposed to be released this month, although it was supposed to be out in 2011. Allegedly he has 100 on back order, so if you need it NOW you still might have to wait.

Priced at $4295.00

If you don't want to cut your car this is the one worth waiting for.

Bump, any news on the Passon 5 speed. Prices, availability? I would call them but I doubt they are open on the weekend.

Keisler is taking orders for their SS700 5 speed for a mid to late February delivery. Price is $3499. They say it will fit my Duster with no cutting and have purchased a '70 Dart to confirm fitment.

I'll let you be the guinea pig on that one srduster340.especially after all I've read regarding customer service and alleged " perfect fit " kits. IMO

This is what I'm waiting for. I'm a 360 4sp now with TTI headers (68 Cuda), I'd like to know how they test fit and does the tranny take up more room than the 833. I know they can't test fit all scenario's, but they could do a couple I hope!

No I won't be the guinea pig nasty69! Lol. I thought about it until I found out that Keisler assembles the transmissions. Man, why is it so hard for "us" to get 5 speeds! :banghead:

because if everyone drove mopars the world would be perfect

The chevys and fords manage to get all the goodies yet we still come out on top

I don't know but the ones that are available, they want an arm and a leg for them ...

Sure they are expensive, the Passon gear box is $4295.00 and the Keisler is $3295.00. But considering that a Gear Vendors OD is $2795.00 and a new T-56 or TR6060 is well over 2K and requires significant tunnel modifiaction (a definite no no for original 340 cars) the prices are not ridiculous.

Remember the old adage: Speed costs, how fast do you want to go?

My biggest concern is that right now both of these gear boxes are "vapor ware" until I can order one Today and have it shipped within a couple of weeks I am going to reserve final judgement.

I called Passon Performance over a week ago and left a message to call me with the status of the 5 speed, no return call yet. As far as the Keisler goes, Having a transmission on order for an indefinite amount of time for a product which officially exist isn't really an order. Guess I'll just go ahead with my Pro Motion T-5. Supposed to be good for 600 ft lbs.

I'm leaning toward ordering a TKO. Hell, I know how to weld and fabricate well enough to make it fit. Does anyone make an adapter to fit a Mopar bellhousing?

I have a Quicktime bell already and don't want to buy another if I can help it.

hell im in my setup for less than 1/2 of all thoes prices. granted i got a used tremec for 500 and spent 1500 on all the stuff needed to make it work. even if the tranny craps out ill still will be under the 4700

i i just redrilled my lakewood, welded some nuts, and had at it on my tremec swap. check the build thread for details.

Keisler quoted me $3499 for the SS700 in my '71 Duster. There's an install on you tube in a '65 vette. Of course no Mopar installs.

Heck 5 speeds have been out forever, got one in my 89 5.0 Stang:) You can buy a Tremac with a whole Mustang wrapped around it for $4295.00:8-[

thats what I was thinking, anyone to pay $4300 and tax for just a transmission is just about crazy!

Yes, but will a tremec hold up to a 600 HP Big Block? I think not. Also, can you install a Tremec without cutting the floor? Umm no.

The Passon Performance 5 Speed offers a number of advantages, among these are 1) stronger than an 18 spline 833, (Passon is putting the torque capacity at 650 Ft Lbs, in testing he abused the transmission so badly that he BENT the unitized body and had to stop testing to install sub frame connectors in his test mule, the transmission didn't break however) 2) absolute bolt in assembly 3) absolutely stock shifter location.

The Passon Transmission is LONG overdue, but somethings are worth the wait. Also, for someone who already has a car with an 833 the price differential is negligible since they will be able to reuse their existing cluth, pressure plate, bell housing, throw out bearing etc. Witha Keisler setup you have to rebuy all of that existing hardware pushing your total cost past 4K.
