6-71 small block build.

Heres the message I just sent to my engine builder.

We can start at 7 pounds. If that costs less. How much can we push the stock rotating assembly? Put your engine building brain to the problem, it just needs to be faster than a ford bronco.

You need to talk to @diymirage about that... :poke:

Or, there's always this one.

And here it is!!!

@RustyRatRod Here ya go bud!

This thing is so wicked looking. I can't wait to see sticking out the hood.
I'm not sure what I was expecting but what ever it was, in real life it's way more.
I realy cant even described it.

Thanks kim!
They look real good up there eh?

I'm gonna have to put a small spacer under each one. The linkage hits the top plate.

(Some one just messaged me wanting to buy them, of course I said no.)

@MiradaMegaCab
@Coyote Jack

What static comp ratio do you guys suggest?
I dont wanna be so low that the engine is a dog at low boost but I also dont want it so high that I cant spin the blower.

I need to get this figured out so i can order a crank , rods and pistions.

Thanks!

I run 8.2 to 1. I would suggest you run as low as you can and let the blower do it's thing. Remember that when you are idling around who cares how fast it is. It's when you get on it that the fun starts and the lower your compression ratio, the higher the boost you can run and that is where the hp is made. I run meth injection sometimes. Only when I run 10 lbs of boost. What I have found is that it works good at WOT but can make your engine cough and sputter at lower boost settings. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but that is my experience.

Do you have e85 in your area? Cheap high octane fuel that does and amazing job at cooling as well.

While we do have E85 it's few and far between for places that carry it so its not really an option. I'd rather stay on 91 pump and run meth injection.

Another pic showing just how large this sucker is.

In my experience with roots superchargers, the throttle response from idle is explosive, so do not worry about it being a dog down low, because the tires will not hold traction.
Keep the compression in the low 8's so you do not have to worry about crap gas, or running the meth tank running dry.

So im inching close to buying the rotating assembly and have a quick question.

Any down side to stroking the bottem end?
Its not much more to just buy the forged stroker kit. I just want to check if thers a down side to stroking a blower motor?

I don't see one but i wanna make sure im buying the right stuff.

Thanks!

If your bottom end is already forged, it really would not be worth the extra money.
That blower builds alot of torque, that is basically what a stroker engine is doing, just adding more torque.

Also, all else being equal, provided the heads and cam aren’t so small that they are the main restriction...... more cubes requires turning the blower faster to achieve the same boost.

I’d look at a chart that shows boost over/under drive vs displacement vs boost and see where you’d end up with the added cubes.

Hey Cope,

Your inbox is full. Before you build your engine, you may want to pick up this book. It helped me to decide to build my 360 at the stock 3.580" stroke instead of going for a 4" arm. I know lots of guys go with the stroker, but I'd rather keep the mean piston speed down.

X2 you do not want a stroker with short piston in a boosted engine, large skirts on the pistons are your friend.
