\6 904 torque converter bolts

when i was taking out my slant 6 i accidentally rounded one of the 4 bolts that bolt the flexplate and torque converter together. to replace this do i need a special bolt or can i use a hardware store bolt? ive been told yes and no so idk what to do.

the problem with hardware store bolts are the head of the converter bolts are thinner so they dont hit the back of the motor...

Hit the head of the bolt with a bench grinder if you can't find what you need.

hot tip: take one box end wrench the size needed and grind one side of it flat to remove the bevel. this will enable the wrench to get a better purchase on the bolt head so it will stay on and not slip off as easily.
