The car is a 73 dart swinger but I was told its not the factory motor that's its a 60 something how can I find this on the block ill be glad to get all info needed I need this stuff gone mike

i went out and got a few #s off the side of the block donno if this is off good info for you guys but here goes 2463230-1
also i looked at the rods and the #s on the rods are 1947167on 1 side and 57 on the other thanks mike

2463230 = LG block, that's about a '63-'67 170. If you look at the top of the deck surface, facing the sky, below the frontmost spark plug, inboard of the coil/alternator bracket, you'll find the engine ID stamping which will tell us exactly when it was made.

Ok guys got to take a look at the block today and the #s on the block are. A170. 7 5 hope this helps sorry took a while been snowed in thanks mike

Engine built on July 5, 1965. If this engine was in front of an automatic transmission when you bought the car, then somebody did some fancy footwork; check the diameter of the crankshaft rear flange counterbore.

dan it was in front of a auto why you say that?? they didnt come with auto?? thansk mike

'67 and earlier slant-6 crank counterbore (and torque converter nose) are ¼" smaller in diameter than '68-up. You can put an engine with the '68-up crank in front of a '67 or earlier auto trans (you have to use a 1/8" spacer ring between the smaller torque converter nose and the larger crank counterbore if you don't want to eat up trans front pump bushings and seals) but you cannot go the other way around with a pre-'67 crank in front of a '68-up trans, unless you either have a custom torque converter specially built or use the torque converter and most of the front pump and input shaft pieces from a '68-up transmission; the '68-up torque converter will not fit an unmodified '67-down transmission.
