62 lancer vin location

going to check out a 62 lancer gt for sale in a couple days. where is the body vin located so i can check the numbers before i shell out the money.

Drivers front door post. IF! it has a fender tag, check the sequence number at the left of the bottom line against the number on the radiator support. The number on the rad support is right around where the antifreeze sticker but straight down to behind where the grill mounts. The fender tag numbers can be decoded for standard and optional equipment. But Sequence Number should match Fender Tag Sequence Number. You have to cut the rad support out, if someone wanted to do a numbers swap. Good Luck!

hey guys, thanks for the info. at this point, not so concerned about total numbers matching, but just want to make sure the body number matches the title. this older guy has owned it since 1970. suppose to be in excellent condition, and also has the aluminum block engine in it that they say runs real good. will be going tomorrow morning (thanksgiving day) to check it out, and taking the cash with me.

yes, the 41 plymee in the picture also has a slant six.
