How much wheel and tire are people fitting with the stock width axle and springs moved under the frame along with a mini tub?

Also, what wheel and backspace are you running? I understand that factory tolerances will change results somewhat. But it gives us a starting point.

We should be starting on this project on Jasons silver 63 in a couple of weeks and just want an idea of what scrap junk test wheels to grab to get some fitment ideas. Im thinking we might beable to fit a 15 x 10 with around 5 inches of BS, but time will tell when the men hit the metal. Thanks, Eric L

15 x 10 with 5.5 inch backspace and 295 -50 -15's on my 64.

Thanks for the replys guys. Looks about like what we were thinking than. Both cars look great. Thanks for the info. Eric L

does the back seat still fit?

thanks
Howard

Back seat will not fit without modification. Blownfish is the only person I have seen so far that is running a backseat after a minitub on an early Barracuda. I'm sure you can search through his old posts to find pics. He had to remove and disassemble the seat and also cut some of the framing out to be able to do it. The seat bar brackets will also need relocated if you want to maintain the original angle. I'm currently minitubbing mine with the plan to do the same, but I'll probably never reinstall the back seat. If I do, it will be the last project after everything else is done.

Albeit a Valiant, that's what were planning on doing with ours for a back seat.

From looking at it it might require some cutting and tack welding to narrow the frame and re wrap the material on the new narrower back seat.

Were playing it by ear, lol. Thanks again for all the information. Eric L

Eric,

I see you already have tire size from other members, but I should be able to provide some exact dimensions later today or tomorrow. I know mine's a Barracuda and not a Valiant, but I have to figure it's almost if not exactly the same dimensions.

Eric,

I know this is an old thread, so I hope you already got the info you were looking for through accomplishment, but I finally finished my mini tub a few weeks ago. With 10" wide wheels with 6.5" back spacing and 28 X 10.5 X 15 slicks, I have 1.5 inches between the slicks and the frame rails and between slicks and fender lips. I can't remember the width of my Dana and I'm not home to measure it; sorry. Sorry it took me so long to follow up.
