Depends. Watch out for the cores, a few aftermarket ones are wrong. About 140 or so with a new box seal kit. Strongly recommend getting the origional core fixed.

Alot of the aftermarket is crap. I had to go with a lightweight mostly aluminum core. They claim it is guaranteed, but theres still the potential hassle with removing and replacing.
I won't be surprised when it starts to leak.

If not a factory AC car, you could do it a few hours if no issues. But, there are always issues. You will likely need to treat rust, paint, fix cracks and such. At a minimum, clean out all the leaves and wash to remove mildew. I recently refreshed the non-AC box in my 1964 Valiant. I used a copper heater core. I recall the box said Made In Canada. I use Evans Waterless Coolant, so no concerns with it corroding. I also put a stainless screen under the cowl vents to stop tree junk from getting in.
Took me all of an hour going SLOW and about 40 bucks.

Mancini racing sells copper heater cores. Get a DMT rebuild kit for the heater box, take lots of pics when take it apart. It’s pretty simple kit to use get some 3M adhesive spray.
