i dont know if the v8s were included in this, but the early slant tranny had a smaller hub on the converter. the crank register and converter had a bigger size starting in 68. might want to check on it. dave.

Yea the one on the push button trans is 1.50 and the magnum crank register is 1.80 going to make a spacer for that thanks for the heads up.

Got the engine out of the van finally and loaded it up to go to the car wash to pressure wash it also got the bushing made for the converter so it will fit the magnum crank

Yea I'm waiting to mate every thing together to notch the trans bell housing and I took the flexplate off to keep from damaging it and to fix the hole so it will bolt to the converter thanks

bonehead, what did you end up doing for a shifter? we are doing a 64 dart 5.2 44RE but havent made it to shifter yet. Its a push button but I also have a 65GT with auto floor shifter that would probably work if cant figure out buttons.

Well I'm snowed in actually iced in but I was able to do a lot today got the v8 gas pedal and center link from the junk barracuda installed also got the flex plate bolt hole elongated to fit the converter and the bell housing notched for the crank sensor . I now have the engine and trans ready to install :blob:

I got the engine and trans in to day and the push button shift cables adjusted ( correctly I hope ) going to have to do some fabracting for the trans kick down cable due to not having any clearance between it and the floor

Honested,

Did you buy that car from Tommy in Gaffney, SC?

I thought that was the same car. That is a really good little car. I've know Tommy a long time as well. Got my Dart race car in a trade with him a few years back. He had that Valiant for a long time. I looked at it a few times when I would make trades or buy and sell with him. I almost bought it two different times, but passed on it mainly due to working on my drag car at the time.

You got a good one for sure. I'll be watching your build.

hmm, on my 5.2 swap I was able to use the flex-plate without modifying it.
I used a 904 with a old Hurst? convertor.

71gtdart this is eddie barys friend I have the 69 dart tube chasis car that I keep saying I'm going to bring to union some time

Well, I'll be dang.

How you doing Eddie?

Barry hasnt told me that you got that car from Tommy. Glad you are doing the whole "Magnum in a Valiant" thing. Barrys son just moved in one mile away from me, and built a nice shop. We talked the other day about bringing the 66 Valiant from Barrys over there, and start pecking at it.

I have a 5.9 magnum that I am going to donate to the project if he wants to go that route, and now I know who to talk to about the do's and don'ts of getting it in there and running.

He's 39 years old and Barry used to pick him up from football practice in that Valiant, and back then he couldn't stand to ride in it. Now he wants to fix it up into a hot rod and drive it, lol.

That's cool I'll help any way I can I think a lot of Barry he's a good guy . I don't know if he knows that I have the valiant or not it was a little ruffer than it appeared but I'm building it any way would like to drive it to steel in motion in union would also like to Cary my model a to that show as well but I'll need to tow it and they won't let any trailers in the show I thought about asking Barry if I could leave my truck and trailer at he's shop and drive the model a from there and let my wife drive the valiant in

Cool game plan thus far; Love the Build. Keep the pics & the tech details coming. I'm building a '64 Cuda with a 340 & a 4 speed. ;)

I'm sure he would let you do that. Plenty of room next to the old house beside the shop.
