I'm considering a nice original 65 V200 4dr with auto and a 273, but since I'm only familiar with later A-Bodies, I have a few questions: 1) Does this car have a 904 or 727? I know 65 was the last year of the original 727 and in 66 they modified the transmission and case a bit. I just don't know what the 1st year for the 904 was. 2) What differential is this car likely to have - 7.25, 8.25?? 3) I'm assuming small bolt pattern, yes??? Thanks in advance!

It would be a 904, 7 1/4 rear,no 8 1/4 in 65, some had the 8 3/4, but probley not in a 4 dr.Smallbolt pattern, if not a 4 lugger

stock rear gear ratio is probably in the high 2's, like a 2.93 or 2.76.

My 1964 Dart has the 904 pushbutton trans for a smallblock which I believe is the first year for it. The 904 for slant sixes was around already I'm sure. The 727 trans won't fit in 63-66 cars unless you cut the pinch weld where the floor pan meets the fire wall. Jysnflem
