Saturday I bought a 65 Valiant 273, 2bbl, auto. The block, intake, and valve covers are orange and the heads are mopar Turq/blue color. Later model heads? The car has been sitting for years and is totally stock except for the heads. Any ideas? Just curious.

If the heads are light blue/ from the sound of the colors, I'd suspect a later 70's head. The sure way to find out what you actually have is pull the valve covers and post the casting number. Casting numbers can also be found in one of the subsections at mymopar.com (I think that's the website)

Thanks, I'll check the #'s when I pull the valve covers. Also the block #'s.

The motor should be red, International Harvester Red is the commonly used paint to duplicate it nowadays!!!

×2 on the International-Harvester red. I like Martin-Senour brand (used to get it at NAPA, don't remember where I got my last can). Better match for the original red and better quality than the Mopar Performance paint.

Chrysler Industrial red is a correct color also.

Tractor Supply Company carries most all the tractor and implement colors in spray cans..could be a quick find if you have a store local...

Make sure you get the right shade of IH paint. The older models were a different shade. The distributor is original paint, the oil filter adapter is the old IH tractor paint and the oil pan is Chrysler Industrial red, from Napa.
