Just stripped off my old, haggard wiring harness (has A/C) and was noticing how simple and sparse it all seemed. Then I began the internet search to replace it all, only to find out the prices were not "sparce" at all (i.e. year one forward harness $190.99 ). I hope I can find a kit with everything included, not this piece meal stuff.

What are my fellow Mopar friends doing with "65 A Body wiring upgrades/replacements?

following. (have a 65 barracuda that will also need this one of these days)

That being said, I have been recommended to check out Painless kits, seemed pricey but I have heard good things.

I just read a Hot Rod article on-lne where they "upgraded" a 65 Barracuda with the Painless Performance kit. What disturbed me a little was the splicing required onto factory connections. Hell, I can replace all the wires with new and splice in the connectors myself (or I could employ one of the many Mexican local stereo shops to do it for me here for a dance and a song).

I was also concerned about that. A friend of mine threw a Painless kit on a '93 Cherokee and loved it. But that is obviously a very different beast...

You could just replace the wires one at a time. Lay the harness out like this on a piece of plywood and locate it with some finishing nails. Reuse all the plastic connectors, just use new terminals.

Wrap it with non-adhesive electrical tape when done.

I don't see where it would be more (if any) work than screwing with the painless (painfull?) kit.
