My 65 Barracuda (4 speed a833) is at the shop getting the exhaust redone... The guy called me today and says that the passenger side (maybe it was drivers side?) has a really tight clearance for the downtube connecting to the manifold... so he's going to have to use small piping in order to not hit the steering linkage... Have you guys ran into this issue? Any way to re-route it?

solutions would be appreciated... thanks...

I know it's tight, but I have the Spitfire headers and the flange dumps right above the torsion bar so I know it can be done. My exhaust guy squacked about how tight it was but then had the downtubes worked up in about 15 minutes!! I think he was just looking for a few extra $$ for the bitchin!!!LOL!!The drivers side is tighter than the passenger side, but the 90 degree filter adapter doesn't help on the passenger side either, but you can loosen that and turn the filter back a ways to open up the clearance a bit!! Geof

Yeah you're right about that... wanted more $$

He said he can't get anything bigger than 1 1/2" for the down pipes... but it is mandrel bent, so hopefully that helps...
