1965 Barracuda
Weird problem here guys, took apart my steering column and re-finished my small spline barracuda steering wheel. It was all cracked and after tons of work, its back together and re-painted. Trying to put my steering wheel back in the car there are 4 parts, the wheel, the middle portion the trim cone and the column shaft. There is a bearing stop with a rubber bushing on the steering column shaft. The middle section slides over the shaft and can't go any further than the bearing on the shaft. The problem is that when I try to put the steering wheel on, the splines wont reach deep enough to fully seat so that I can put the nut on. I know about the notch on the splines needing to align, no problem when the middle section isn't in the way. WTF am I doing wrong here? This exact arrangement came OFF the car!
