I have a picture of the trunk floor before having removed the large, black sheet metal plate which shows the corner gap underneath the filler pipe being filled in by "something". I can't tell in my old photo what actually is covering up that space (and three years later can't remember for the life of me). Thank you.

There's a rubber boot that slips onto the filler neck and screws to the floor pan. 65'

Are there two rubber boots? I have one rubber boot that fills a hole in the floor but that is a long way away from the corner area I am referring to (photo #3).

There is a small metal filler plate in that corner. Probably be easy enough to fabricate a duplicate if you can't find your original.

I just installed carpet in my 65. Didnt look like the big metal pan or trunk divider had ever been removed- but there was no smaller filler piece and the witness marks in the old adhesive changed at the gap. Maybe some cars didnt get that piece? Mine came from the LA plant.
