So I finally get color on the car and begin assembling the rear trim and try to install the trunk weather seal that I purchased from a vendor 1-2 yrs ago and it seems not to be correct.I seem to remember the seal wrapped along the flange, the one I have looks to maybe glue onto the top edge. Has any one got a photo of the profile of the gasket??

Any one with an open trunk photo on a 65 cuda?
I just don't want to glue up the new paint and not have it right.

Mine that I restored years ago glued to the top of the lip all around the trunk with the edges meeting toward the back... same way the old one came off.

I'll take a photo in the a.m. It's glued on top of the opening with the flat side down and the 'fancy' side of the gasket facing outward.

Cool.

I have one I got on ebay sitting on the shelf and this will help me also.
Mine didn't come with one, so I don't know what it looked like.

Not a great drawing . Yellow 3M weatherstrip adhesive holds it on

Here's the photo I promised. I see I told you wrong earlier, sorry about that, hope I didn't mess you up. Guess I can't rely on my memory.

The seal in the photo above is installed backward.

Thanks Redfish for the correction, I wouldn't want others making the same mistake. Sorry guys. :pale:

It's no big deal really. Thats a poorly designed seal to begin with.
Unless OEM is desired and / or paid for a new type seal ( hollow tube on a U shaped channel ) can be gotten from a junk yard and installed there. Takes a little more effort to close the lid but it wont leak.

Easy mistake to make & like Redfish said prob. makes no difference accept for closing trunk. I would have had no idea if my old one wasn't complete. Here's a couple pics of mine.
