Hi being a new member,I'm still finding my way around. I have bought a 65 but don't have it home to work on. I did put a battery in it and get it to start. I had to pour gas in the carb and hold my foot on the pedal to keep it going. The exhaust had a strong odor and some smoke but had good oil presure and no strange noises. Being I have no idea how long it has been since the car ran, I'm thinking a carb rebuid and tune may have me started toward my restoration. Any ideas out there. Thanks

Rebuild the carb, flush the tank and fill with fresh gas, and you're on the way. Old gas is the main cause of the exhaust stench. Don't forget to flush the old brake fluid and check the condition of the brake hydraulics in the process. An oil and coolant change wouldn't hurt either. Have fun tinkering.

Thanks, I was going to do those when I get the car home. I was told the miliage is correct at 51000, but that goes with the other things I was told.
Thanks again
