Can you post a pic of the data plate screwd on in the engine compartment? I can tell you if I see it.

To my knowledge the VIN number for a 65 is not stamped anywhere on the body. The data plate does not list the VIN number - only the last 5 digits of the Shipping Order Number. On my 65 I checked the SON on my broadcast sheet with the number stamped on the core support (which also showed the same same info. You might have to have your DMV issue a VIN number if you don't have the VIN tag or title sghowing the VIN number. Hope this helps

Look for broadcast sheet under back seat, or just use whatever number the state assigns. Wouldn't it suck to find the original VIN only to discover that the car had been stolen 30 years ago? Let sleeping dogs lie. The car will run the same regardless of numbers.

You have the serial order# on the radiator support and on the left inner side under the trunk weatherstripping.
The VIN# on the A door pillar and the fendertag on the inside on the inner fender besides the battery.

Found title with vin on it.Radiator support had no.760706132 on it.Now i need to know where i can get a vin tag for the door made.Have title with vin also checked buildsheet all torn up nothing left.

That number on the radiator support is the shipping order number and the last 5 digits will (or should) match the digits under the word "NUMBER" on the fender tag. To my knowledge no one is reproducing any kind of tag or plate with a VIN number on it - something about against Federal law. Your missing VIN tag is made out of stainless steel and is is about an inch or so by 2 to 3 inches and was secured with some kind of special glue. All 5 of my early A Bodies have the tag and no rivits holding the tag to the jamb.

I know from personal experience that a 65 broadcast sheet and fender tag do not provide VIN data. Only one place the VIN number was posted on the car...on the VIN tag located on the door jam. The radiator stamping likewise has nothing to do with the VIN.
Only course of action is a title search if you know any previous owners or apply for a new one.
