I have a couple remote style driver's side mirrors off a 66 Dart. I thought I could use one on my 67 Barracuda, but the base won't fit. Is the 66 a one year thing? Or is the Barracuda different? I'd like to find a remote style mirror for my car, but need to make sure it will fit.

    Thanks.

The remote driver side mirror is styled different from the non-remote driver side mirror. Each style has a matching passenger side mirror as well. I wouldn't be surprised that the two styles have different bases — Ive never had a non-remote to compare with.

Mike's mirrors are exactly the same as the ones on my 67 Barracuda — the "remote" style. My question was, does the "non-remote" mirror have the same base? We know you can't just replace a non-remote driver mirror with a remote mirror, obviously — you have to drill two big holes in the door first, for the cable and bezel.

The same base as far as I know.

You can see the mirror on this early Barracuda is styled different. It is a non-remote mirror. But I have never seen a mirror of this style on a 2nd gen Barracuda. I thought they all came with remote driver side mirrors. But maybe not...

Like I said... I have never seen one with the "twin strut" mirror. But sure, it makes sense they were an option. I have noticed that 67 Barracudas tended to be a little "up optioned" compared to Darts and Valiants — Plymouth thought of them as "premium" and the dealer cars were seldom baseline models. But anyway, they do seem to have a different shaped base, which was the question (although those accessory illustrations are not very accurate — I guess that catalog was put together using the stylist's concept art, before they had any production models to photograph).

I always liked the Twin Strut for a non remote. The conical seems to show up on the base models. I Haven't gotten into the ordering information to see what was actually available in a particular model or sub model.

It just looks like the stud is in the wrong place. Can the stud be shifted to where that screw is toward the front? Disregard the other holes- there was an aftermarket mirror on the door.

EDIT- the stud is in the correct place but the cables are not positioned to go through the large hole. I wonder if they are routing incorrectly. I can't really see how they could be routed differently without severe bends.

So you're "adding" the remote style to your 67 cuda? The mirror appears same as our 67 remote.
Cables may be different lengths? Maybe mirror was on a b body originally?
You got hole on inside of door?

Danged if I know. It looks like the threaded stud needs to be where the phillips head screw is to fit the hole pattern in the door.

I have the hole on the inside of the door, so that car had a remote mirror stock. The previous owner installed some aftermarket mirrors and I want to go back to stock.

Okay, I don't think this was off a 66 Dart now. It was years ago that I grabbed this.

You seem to have too many holes in your door... which set was the aftermarket mirror using?

This shows the mirror style and location on my 67 Barracuda. You seem to have the same mirror. I am wondering, can you just twist the cable around the stud so that it aligns with the large hole?

I wonder if Redfish is correct. My memory is that the stud was under the mirror pivot. But looking at that screw head it doesn't look interchangeable. I had a spare mirror but I think I sold it.

heres an idea, look at aftermarkets application guide. 66 and later or 67 and later. I have some 67 mirrors in box here somewhere. I'll look at the hardware configuration sometime today.

The stud is in the correct place, because they line up with my door. I think the cables just need to wrap around the stud to make it into the large hole in the door. If anyone has a loose mirror, I'd like to see how their cables are routed.

Anyway, I found a manual adjust mirror in my stash and just threw it on for now.

Throw a tape measure on the cable part? Sorry our 67 is in storage.
