I'm going to guess that we are talking small block? In my experience, unless you spend the big bux on a pair of tti headers, you are going to have the 1 pipe hang down under the steering linkage on the driver's side which is a bit of a pain. For most people it's OK, though you gotta watch the speed bumps, etc. For the more affordable ones, I like the Hooker Competition series. They have thicker flanges and pipes and require little to no clearancing, depending on your car (P/S, auto trans, etc). I have them in my 69 Dart convertible (340/console A/T, P/S), had to dimple for clearance at the steering coupler. I undid the mounts and lifted the engine, and dropped the steering linkage to put them in. The cheaper ones, Hedman, Blackjack, do not last and like to burn out head flange gaskets.
