Hey all I just re installed my Speedo cable with some new graphite lubricant as my speedometer was bouncing. No kinks in the line but now my Speedo went up to 70 and is stuck there. Hoping someone has an answer thanks. In a 67 barracuda
Bouncing needle is often caused by a bad cable. Checking for a bad cable by holding one end of the cable in a vice and while holding the opposite end try to twist the cable in either direction. If you can twist the cable in either direction 1/4 turn or more- you have a bad cable, make a new one. The proper lubricant is a lite grease. If the cable is known to be good, then your speedo head needs servicing.
I replaced my cable twice having the same happen. I found that the speedo side was wallered out so I mixed up epoxy and broke out my dremel and fixed it since I couldn't find a replacement part.
It's been Two years since and sill working now.
