Hey all. Is there a reason that I can not use a ‘68-‘69 FB window weather strip on my ‘67 Cuda? Also the trim clips! Is there a difference in the trim hardware or the trim itself?

My current weather strip is super stiff. I’d like to replace it with fresh material. The window trim has yet to be installed.
 
These aren’t the clips for the trim are they????

Yes sir! That’s it. This is the rubber pictured below.
The lacing is also a bit beat up.

If I have to pay the larger amount then that’s what it will be. But I’d like to not pay 3X’s the price over the other units for 68 & 69

I'm not sure about the trim clips, I've never done much body work myself...

But I've heard of others using the 68-69 trim on the 67's instead of the original with the plastic trim.... I believe that you have to use the 68-69 trim clips, trim, and gasket....
 
Thanks Carl, that’s wht I had heard as well. “Get all the ‘68 parts and go. IDK if the actual trim is different. I can get that pictures up in a jiff if need be.

Oh, my trim is not plastic, but for certainly metal.
 
Rob, if you decide to go this route. Let me know. I have the back and front trim. I've decided not to finish my car.
 
Here is the trim. Can you tell by these pictures the year? As I believe there ‘67.

Thanks R4. The car is actually the wife’s and that decision may very well lay in her hands.

We both would like to keep it stock/correct for the restomod Cuda. If there is a marked difference, she may not go for it.

Can anybody show a ‘68-‘69 rear window trim?

I don't think that's 67 trim, it looks more like 68 and later trim to me...

My 67 trim was plastic with two barbed "ribs" that snapped into the rubber gasket to hold the trim in... The plastic got hard and brittle with age and cracked by itself or will easily crack when you try to remove it... You have to be very gentle when removing it to not break it...
 
Yes the '67 just originally came with the gasket and lock strips and the 4 little corner pieces. I can't tell from the picture what that trim is from.
 
The trim pics in post # 11 are not 67. They are most likley 68, and 69. 67 had one big rubber gasket that went all around the window, and a chrome locking strip to hold it all together. It also had two little sqaure corners for the lower corners.
I think if you look on E-Bay you will find the correct window gaskets, and locking strip (trim).
Those clips in post # 14 ..... I think they are for holding the heater boxes, under the dash, together. they ar not windshield, or rear window clips that I have ever seen.
67 can be converted to 68, and up trim/gaskets, but the hardest part is finding all the correct pieces of chrome trim.

Hey rumble, it's your lucky day... Here's a gasket for sale...

[FOR SALE] - Windshield Gasket
 
You can use the 68/69 weatherstrip/seal on a 67 with the 67 glass.
You will need to install the clips to install the 68/69 trim.
You must use the 68/69 trim with the 68/69 seal.

These are the clips needed to install the 68/69 trim

Al, thanks, that was awesome. I didn’t know the clips are screwed into the metal.

Tomorrow, I’ll be going through the box of trim to see what is what in there and about this all.
