While trying to contain the snowball that is my Temp gauge replacement, I decided to replace the speedometer cable.

While cleaning up the gear holder I noticed 2 dings?

They are at 12 and 6 and both look the same.

Before I file them flat I wanted to know if they were I tentional by the factory.

Shouldn't hurt anything as the "O" ring will seal it. Smooth it if you want. The large notches are for locating the hold down bracket and the small notches are for alignment with dimple on the housing. Replace the inner seal.

It's so odd, it almost looks factory. I was thinking someone chucked it in a vice?

I replaced the inner and outer seal, 150 to 160,000 miles is probably long enough!
