I am young and have no need for a rare collectible car with a small motor.
The thing is fun to drive! Love the console 4 speed. But I am afraid I will want to modify the thing too much. I want a Demon with a 360 and a 6 speed Really. I need something much faster... Love Mopars and plan on building the one of my dreams down the road. I need to pass on this classic before I do anything stupid to it. Just spent so many hours making it look nice I would hate to stuff it into a hillside out Rallying. I want a beater that will Haul Balls! Anyways here is the skinny on the Dart...

History:
I live around Santa Cruz, 23yrs.
Have Had the Dart for about 4-5 Years when my Dad (Owner for 20 years)
Gave me the car for Woking on all his other Projects over the years.. It didn't run and he had to Take off.

I was 19 Fresh outa High school and worked @ Kragen Auto.

The car didnt run. And Hadn't for about 10-12 years near as we could Figure.. It had a Slipped Wrist Pin that Gouged cylinder wall #5 (Sleeved it) and a destroyed piston and Generally CLAPPED OUT Factory 273 Commando 4Speed. We Hauled it. (Bearings Cam & Timing) And the Brakes. (took A WHILE... to get the Calipers) Painted it. Slapped on the Original Carter AFB 550cfm Carb. Shimmed up a new Clutch. Bolted it in and fired it up. RAN! Shitty... Sat. Alternator. Plugs. Wires. Coil. Ran Better.

Moved to Tahoe for a Winter instead

Came back and stared working @ Alpha Machine Co. in Capitola.
Insured it!!! 1st step.
Ordered a new Gas Tank. Distributor.
Fabbed up a new Accelerator Pump and ran it! Advanced.. Ran it
Advanced... RAN IT. Points Closed up Ran shitty. Parked it.

Screwed with it. Ran it

Sent the battery into the old Flex fan and Exploded it! Poured on vinegar.

Quit Drinking

Bought a Holley and some Points. New Squirter. ADVANCED some More!!

Now the Car Effing RAN WELL! and Handled suprisingly quickly as well. I loved ripping through corners sideways for sections at a time..

Spun a Rod-Bearing!!! Saw about 6500+ on a few occasions maybe almost a quart low at times.

RIPPED MY GIRL APART!!!

She has no Drivetrain or Suspension attatched anymore (K-member gone too)

Have the Original Carter AFB, Air Cleaner and "Charger" Pie tin, Factory Original Radiatior (Needs a Core) as well as a few other things... Will post pics of parts upon request. I kept EVERYTHING I replaced with a "Different" style part.

HAVE ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER! and Certi-Card. Many Many Receipts. Car has been well appreciated by all 4 owners. NEVER HAD HEADERS! Original Dash Pad is in PERFECT Condition (Window Shade) Have Sun Visors that are in really good shape.

NO BONDO Anywhere on the car. None. 1 Re-paint on body with Minimal Body Rust (Usual Floorboards and Trunk Holes) California Car! Garaged for most of it's life until 5 years ago when I brought it back to Life. All Lights Work, including the Hood Turn Indicators! Heater Works Great, Never had A/C!

Would also Consider Trade for a Good Running Street 70-72 Duster or Demon with a 340/360 in there. (Not gonna be picky about #'s matching this time!)
 
so it runs good now? and which pics are current? i have a 75 scamp 360 4 speed. not perfect but she is for sure fun lol. need front end rebuild(ball joints tie rod ends etc) and a 360 harmonic balancer. it has the 318 one on it now but it is not right. the motor was just rebuilt. dosent even have 500 miles on it yet. bored .30 over, ported, new cam pistions everything. i did the 4 speed swap on it. the shifter needs rebuilt so it is hard to find the gear but once you get it in she scoots. the motor was supposed to have about 450 horse at the flywheel. when someone puts in a 8 3/4 with decent gears and some higher lift rear springs she will be a lot of fun. my favorite car is a 68 dart so yours is close enough

The two above the New Engine is where it starts. It is all together now, Runs smooth, Sounds like it has a cam through Open Pipes. Drove it about 75 Miles since those pictures.. Sounds good! I think it wants a Taller cam now to keep up with the Port Job & Carb. Doesn't Torque down low like it used to, will see after the bearings all seat, may check/adjust the cam timing to improve this... I still need to do an alignment and mufflers. Needs a Windshield and Carpet, has Black rubberized mat floor insulation down and Foot-Kicker Carpet Mats, looks pretty good. Classy ride for sure. Interior is all Original Survivor, door panels in great shape! Black & White . . . Plastic Chrome needs Replaced in there and Headliner could be stitched back together.

I need to go show her some love right now, I miss Driving the car..

Can you post some pictures of the whole car that are not colorized so that we can see what it looks like now?
 
ok i will get some pics. all the interior is in good shape. it literly was a grandmas car till the 318 went south. so it is a pretty clean and rust free.and i think a 360 balencer is on its way.
 
Ok I will give the car a bath and try to do a sterile photo analysis in the next couple days.
Put in requests for Areas of interest now...

You can see everything in those pics basically. Outside hasn't changed except I pulled out the Passenger Front Corner (Only Collision Damage) and put in both Headlight Bezels. Paint is shitty Faded Mopar Medium Turquoise. Engine bay is now High Temp Silver..
 
Too bad you are selling the Dart. I thought it was going to stay in the family. I am assuming that your father has no interest in owning it once again?
 
Well I guess I ain't selling it now. I just drove it down to the Local Hot Rod shop where I recently got a job. Real Deal Hot Rods in Soquel, CA. I am going to put in a new exhaust system, tune the new engine and get an alignment... Then we'll see how it goes. Really cool car, I know I'll miss it if I sell it, so I am gonna do my best to just make the darn thing work right and regularly!
