Hello everyone. This is my first post here. I've always been a B-body fan, have 2 66 Satellites. But, found a 67 notchback on ebay and couldn't pass on it, so now i'm an A-body fan to. What i'm trying to find out is where I can front and rear window moldings. The car has some god awful plastic strips in place where the moldings should go. If anyone knows where to buy these pieces, please let me know. Also, are 67-69 pieces the same. Thanks, Mike V.

Hi Mike,

Welcome to the group. I don't think anyone is repopping the plastic for your '67 but one of the more common fixes to that is using the '69/'69 stainless moulding. Many of the '67 owners have gone that route.

Again, welcome!

The replacement plastic/chrome lock cord and all the little stainless corners for a 67 can be bought off ebay. The stainless trim from a 68 or 69 rear window requires different gaskets and installation of the attaching clips. While the rear glass is spacific to the Barracuda, the front glass stuff can be had from any 2 door A-body excluding Duster. The stainless from a 4 door will work also if you trim 2 inches from the a pillar sticks (4 door front glass is 2" taller).
I have a 68 notchback here that needed only the 2 pieces at bottom of rear window. Took 12 years to get them. Any trim for sale was complete 4 piece sets at 150+.
Their are ways to conquer all the various issues and wants for these cars but you can save yourself alot of headache by sticking with the 67 type glass trim.

I have a 67 Fastback with out the stainless trim but rather the plastic strips. The previous owner had some type of strip stuck in there just to keep pressure on the window gasket. I switched it out with a different type plastic strip that looks much better now. In order to change over to the stainless trim the glass has to be removed and clips installed that holds the trim in place. That's what I've been told anyways. So I said heck with that and pushed in some plastic striping around the front and back glass. Why ma Mopar did some thing like that just in 67 and then not in 68 or 69 beats the heck out of me. I guess 67 was the introduction of the new cuda and they saw that the plastic trim was more a pain than the stainless.

Yeah the chrome look lock cord has been used (trucks mostly) for many years.
I suspect production cost was the determining factor for the new 67 model.
If the public had booo'ed the entire car in 67 the company wouldn't suffer as much.
Evidently they only booo'ed the window treatment. In 68 the invesment to upgrade to stainless there was offset by savings in light fixtures, (plastic front park lamps, no reverse fixtures) and those round side marker fixtures were already tooled.
This is common practice. Ford finally perfected the Escort in 1990. It's every fault had been addressed. Then they scraped it and started over.

Hey everyone. Thanks for all the info. I'll probably buy the trim from the guy on ebay. Year one has the stainless trim, but does not have the corner pieces that completes it. Next year the front and rear glass has to come out anyway, both leak somewhere, and i'll switch over to the stainless trim. Thanks again. Mike V. PS. Next year the 500" stroker comes out of my 66 Satellite and goes in the Cuda. Should be fun with 705hp and 690ft/lbs.
