just want to know what does the big spring that is wrapped around my front 10in drums do? Do i need to use them with the new drums?

Eliminates/ controls harmonic resonance, or that's the idea anyway!! Keep em or pitch em, I don't think you'll miss em!!

I believe that it was supposed to cut vibration/chatter etc. - I have always thrown them away, and have had no problems. -- Just my opinion.
