I am going to classic industries after work today to pick up a few things including a new heater hose kit, None of the parts sites list a heater hose bracket for a 68 small block. Just want to know the correct routing for it and which bracket is correct.
Thanks Mike

Check the FSM I have seen in 67 and 69 there are some photos and line drawings that show routing.
I looked in a 69 FSM I had handy and it shows on page 0-16 fig 24,25,27,28 and page 0-20 fig 43( shows routing different than on page 0-16) page 0-16 looks just like 67 dart.

Good luck

what car do you have? dart and valiant are probably different.
here's the val

Thank you! I have a 68 Valiant with a 340 4 speed no AC. I don't see anything for a 67-68 small block

The only bracket is one that holds both hoses above the alternator. Jim's has those in a repop. Otherwise, the hoses just hang there, portions resting on the valve cover. But the routings shown in post #3 and #6 are not correct for a '68 340 without a/c. This is the HO-1199 bracket Jim's sells:

Thank you very much for your time, pics and explanation. I am confused as to the bracket coming off the alternator as the hoses routed in photo wont allow hose to reach that bracket right?

Neither of the diagrams above are correct. This is pretty much how they go:

Brass fitting is my shut-off valve for the heater core. Keeps a lot of heat out of the interior when you just don't need it! Normally there is just a straight nipple fitting on the intake manifold, like on the top of the water pump.

And here is a (supposedly) perfect all-stock restoration:

Thank you much! So the last pic has the 70 and up style taller bracket, That one keeps the hoses off the valve cover and looks good. I think I will go with that one.
Thanks for the input gentlemen!
