That's what I'm thinking. Red with white top/seats and stripe.
Black top and vinyl seats make a car undriveable out here in the summer .

Like this but white seats

I can't help but think that factory mad a mistake on the fender tag. Which is cool too.

I dont think they would ever paint the body black and paint the roof red but you never know.

The tag should probably read R4 R4. NOT X9 R4

That's what I was thinking.... Unless you could get a different color painted top ?
It codes out for 2 tone paint. I assumed that meant Red paint / Black Vinyl top

I think y'all are reading it wrong. I think it's red body, black painted roof

That s what I was wondering. Thus the twotone paint code.

That's not gonna happen.....lol

It looks cheap to me.... I usually don't care for vinyl tops. But in this case I think they add to the roof line.

After re-reading the tag again and paying more attention to it (V02 two tone paint code) I agree. Red body black painted top. That could look neat.

Well I finally brought her home.
It was buried in 4 ft of snow and it took some creativity to pull it out of its glacier and down an alley into the road to load it on the trailer.
I pulled the seats and carpet figuring I would find rusted out floors and trunk but they are ROCK solid ! WHEW !

The only rust I have found so far is in lower drivers quarter.

Its pretty cool that Ma Mopar put torque boxes on the Swingers !

The car is actually quite complete and fairly unmolested. It even had a bias ply spare ...the body panels appear to be stock to the car.

Really ? Red with black top and interior.... I would think this is a fairly common color scheme.
I plan on going with a white top and intrrior because it gets above 100 out here and Black is a heat sink....
Right on!

The color combo is so unusual you should almost restore it that way. One of one I bet!!

The unusual part is that the top is NOT vinyl. I had a painted roof section which was not common.

That is an uncommon car and I'd learn to deal with the black roof and interior.

I'm not much of a purists but I agree it'd be neat to see that car be put back to stock. 340, 4 speed, bench, black PAINTED roof and white stripe. I'd say it's not far fetched to say it's 1 of 1

Actually I tend to be more of a purist but if your car is too hot to sit in it takes the fun out of driving. Besides I like the look of the white..
I guess I could put seat covers on it and cover the car while parked.

Towel on seat and steering wheel when hot out.

I drive a black interior car a lot and it's 115+ during the summer here.

Considering it wont be a matching number enginr or trany Im not sure it will make a difference on value. Besides it would be easy to repaint the top back to black and put new seat covers on it in future .
I also feel the white giives the car a more sedate look which enhances the "sleeper"
effect I am looking for.
I have a W2 408 solid roller being built for it.....

I didnt realize how complete and solid this car was when I bought it .
The spring shackles just slid out of the bushings when I pulled the rear end !
No torching , fighting or cursing necessary ! lol THAT IS A FIRST !!

This dropped out of the headliner as I was removing it. Ben Coble is a customer of mine and has owned this company since the early 60s. I called and told him about it and he thought it was pretty cool !
This is a mid 60s "Sheaffer Reminder Clip " pen that he used as a promotional tool. He remember them but never owned a Red 4sp Swinger.... So the car obviously came from around here.
