Hey folks-

So I purchased 66' abody a while back with a few good surprises, one of them being it has a 7.25" rear but with sure grip AND 3.23-1 ratio! I feel like I hit the 7.25 jackpot IF there was ever such a thing. No noises, no howls or clunks.

This rear is a spare and if I sell it- what is a rough value?

I'd keep it around but I'm partial to minimum 8.25" or 8 3/4 for any of my cars.
I would hate to keep it when it is a great rear axle somebody else could really use.
Let me know your thoughts before it becomes garage art. Lol!

I'm not a 7 1/4 fan, but sure grip center section i have come across one
In 20+ years. It's worth $200 + to stock builders.

7.25 jackpot for sure, as the only ones I have ever seen are broken.

I've had three 7 1/4"SG rear ends in the last 2 years, 2 had the clutch style and one was a cone! I opened the cone unit up and it looked brand new! It came out of a 72 Dart, so they're out there!!

That's a clutch style Dana Power Lock, too. Ask whitepunkonnitro. He can give you a good idea.

Now that I think about it, don't deal with too many 70 up cars.lol.

Thanks for the help- I appreciate it. Whitepunkonnitro is tough to reach and I'm very impressed by some seriously heavy hitters weighing in on this rear. I feel like I am now King of the Mopeds with this rear axle. It is a home run IF 7.25" rears had real value. If it was only a Dana 60 Abody rear with this break down... Lol!

I do however feel hiding it does nothing especially if a person on here is restoring an original Formula S car and needs this exact rear end and cannot find it. I know before I put an 8.25 rear in my 66' Barracuda and switched it over to bbp, I would had loved to have this rear when my axle fell out driving down the road in the cars original 7.25"- slant six car and the axle bearing let loose. Another story for another time. I was hoping a person reading this would reach out and express a need for their car. Thanks again - Joe

I would ask 300 and that is a good deal just on the SG and gears.

With this being out of a 66 A-body. Would this fit in a 68 A-body? Would it be a direct drop in or is something different between those years?

Direct Drop in. Same length and possibly the same brake and e-brake cable sizes as well.
I have yet to pull the drums but I would guess 9" brakes. Drums and small bolt pattern 7/16" lugs
