My Demon has not gotten much love in the past year, as it has served as a back up car for that dam Duster. Since the MATS last year I have had a sever tire shake problem that we finally figured out at the PSCA race in November. Bought a new set of Hoosier's 10 x 29 last May, have balanced the tires 3 times..bubble balance with the last time at the PSCA race by the M/T guys. Finally we swapped out the tires from the 71 Duster and all the tire shake went away.
So thinking the tires were correctly balanced s, Saturday TNT the car shook going down the track had to ease out the throttle ran 11.01 @ 100. So I had a set of old M/T 9 x 28 that I ran on the 73 Duster last year, and the 71 Duster the year before. Decided to put them on for Sunday's race. Ran 10.74 and 10.75 in the two time trials just over 121 mph.
1st round of elimination I got a new supercharged Mustang Cobra, the Mustang red lighted and I ran the Demon all out, rang up a new PB at 10.666 @ 122.41 on a 10.75 Dial in..Round two dialed 10.68 since it was warming up...Ran a 10.683 ...but then in 3rd round my somewhat late light 10.69 on the 10.68 dial was a loser.
One thing I noticed with the shorter diameter tire the 360 was cranking a few hundred more rpm's going thru the tracks. I always figured these cars needed more gearing.
