So I am considering buying this car. Said to be a 60k original mile 72 Swinger with a 318. I noticed the grill looks like a 71, did any 72s have this grill originally? What would a car like this be worth? No rust, runs good, interior is in excellent shape. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong thread.
Yep, 70/71 grille, value is dependent on overall condition and what modifications have been done. It looks pretty clean and straight from the pics, I'd ballpark it at 7 to 8k. Stripe, dual exhaust and steering wheel are non original, plus of course the grille and wheels.
Of course you can only tell so much from photos, but damned that looks like a nice car. You could spend a lot of time and money working on a car with less potential, just to get it where this one is. If you buy it I think I have a 72 green steering wheel. If you want more power you can do a lot with simple bolt ons to wake that 318 up. you already have the dual exhaust. Post an underhood shot if you can if it's as good as it looks, yeah worth 10-12,0000 easy
hey @Jenee V did you ever get the wheels figured out ? and are you looking to add to the stable to trade up?
That's a really clean car. I went the other way and bought a very inexpensive Dart that needs just about everything, and given another chance I'd probably pay more for a beauty like this than have to invest all the money and (more importantly) time and effort to get mine up to snuff. I'd say it's worth $8-10K depending on all the other details. Keep us informed, the world needs more green Darts!
easy 10/12 ballpark .. b-body are getting higher by the day it seems, so good a-bodies are bringing more.. the days of a clean a-body under 10k have vanished from what I see, and I look often.
Car prices are insane right now. I wouldn't be surprised is someone was asking 15k for that. To me its a 6-8k car depending on condition but I'm a cheap ass. 8-12k is probably where it will sell. Again depending on condition
Looks pretty clean. $10,000 is a fair price. I see some bubbling under the vinyl top that will need to be addressed. Probably a few thousand to fix that unless you can fix it yourself.
Agreed, but without seeing it in person I will be the devil's advocate and keep my lower estimates. I watch every day in my region and I have seen everything from 60k asks for completely non original cars to under 20 for unrestored originals. Plus plenty of under 10k drivers.
I passed on it. There was too much bad body work done, plus hail dings, deep scratches, leaky seals, etc etc.
Exactly what I was thinking and why I was going low on my estimate. What is the asking price @Jenee V ?
There was rust starting under the vinyl top, too. They were asking $12k said he’d take $9k ... I’m guessing he’d go lower ... but I can’t do my own body work; so not worth it for me. A lot of crap job filler in the fenders and quarters, too.
HA! Trust me; I tried my hand at bondo work once ... It definitely isn't my calling, I had more globs of it in my hair then ended up on the vehicle. lol! I do have some pretty mad skills with touch up paint though!
