71 Dart 360 Test n Tune Day

We loaded up the 71 Dart and headed for the drag strip for some fun, beautiful day in Las Vegas in the middle 70s..

First car down the track...Honda..on NOS...blows engine oils top end of track...LOL

1st pass...DA was 3616

1.53 60'
11.147 @118.91

2nd pass...

1.489 60'
11.076 @118.46

3rd pass DA was 4046

1.503 60'
11.068 @ 119.21

4th pass DA was 4328

1.521 60'
11.10 @ 119.41

Last pass, we had to wait as someone oiled the lane down..

Given that I probably had the wrong rear gear 4.30 instead of 4.56, the 360 ran pretty good...

Honda guts, and not slowing down on every pass... at least the second part of that was good.

360 .060 ....73 block...
No Name H beam rods...630 grams..
stock 360 crank
Wiseco (MP) Flat top pistons ...probably 11 to 1 compression
Hughes Ported Eddy Heads open chamber heads 2.02/1.60 had them milled .030....bought them from someone on FABO...
Hughes 260/264 .050 Solid cam with Crane 1.6 roller rockers
Hughes 1111 valve springs..
Weiand X-cellerator intake with holley 950 with 1 inch open spacer....could not get other intakes to fit due block/heads combo being decked...
MP mechanical advance electronic distributor with msd 6al....34 degree total advance.
Hooker 5204 1 3/4 headers ...

turbo action 4400 series converter..flashed to 5200 rpm...
904 TF...with Tranzact Transbrake.

4.30 gears with spool...489 case......should of had 4.56 gears in it..but.
Hoosiers 10 x 29 slicks...

with 4.30 and 29 slicks...going thru traps at 6400 rpm...

Was hoping the correct elevation was going to be better...

nope...

might have missed the boat with the gearing ...and was hoping for some better air..

the barometer was at 27.5" ....uncorrected..

I thought you went with the 4.30,29 inch tires for the 408?You,ll get your 10,s soon enough.Good luck.

I did install the 4.30 for the 408...but the 408 ate some main bearing...so i had to switch to 360...and did not change the gear...cause i am hoping to get the 408 back together shortly...but ....

Indeed and no doubt. Make sure you post this up into the combo sticky section when you iron some bugs out and get the fial answer to it. And both engines too!

I'd love to see the 4.56's installed. They look like the answer to that tiny litle bit your looking for with that combo.
