With raising gas price, i figure its time to toss out the points for better performance. I am curious to what the best kit would be for it? I know theres a few kits on ebay and just trying to figure out what would be the best choice. I am not sure if theres one out there that doesn't require a huge orange box on the firewall, want the performance but not the whats that question.

The big orange box is the factory style ignition system. You can all ways do a Pertonix kit which goes inside your point distributor or used a MSD stand alone distributor.

If you have a V8 the Mopar Performance electronic ignition kit is hard to beat. This kit is no longer available for the slant six.Yes it has a "orange box" but it is far from huge. The kit is a simple install and works very well.

I also like Petronix ignition. This is also a very simple install and works very well.Pertronix is available for the /6 & V8.Pop out your points, pop in the pertronix, hook up 2 wires and your rolling.

Pertronix is a good way to go if you just want to get rid of your points.
The kit is more of a high performance upgrade. The distributor has a high performance advance curve built in.Just depends what you are doing, and what your budget looks like.

yeah I think I am just going to get the whole kit, figure the distributor is 37 years old mine as well do it all. seems like an easy install to. now I just have to toss a coin and see if I should replace the carb or distur first

Oh, do you think I should get a newer style coil for the disturb? or will the older style be fine?

Not a bad idea if your dist is 37 years old.Same thing with your coil.Factory replacement is fine.I really like the MSD Blaster coil.

Your car looks clean.
You never told us what motor you have.

well it was a 318 original but when i had the rebuilt done, one head was cracked and the block was toast, i believe it was the valves that couldn't be found. I am not sure what block is in it know, it does have a street cam in it and was overboard, i think its closer to a 340 at the moment. I still have some hot roding I want to do to it, since the build sheets were stolen and the motor was toast i figure i will beef it up a little and add some nice options. It is still really clean but being a daily driver it has suffered from the road. I have removed the vinyl and it has a red primer roof, it has been side swiped on the passenger and theres about a 3 ft slice on the quarter, there are numerous scratches on the body now to and the door ding has been removed. the plus side is that the front ends been rebuilt, engine rebuilt, new power steering, new cooling, rebuilt rear, rebuilt tranny, new suspension, and ralleys. I just have the body and interior to do, and it will look like she did. It does have a lot of rare options, it has the 318, 8 3/4 3.55 rear, 904 trans, rim blo wheel, vinyl(removed), bumperatees(removed), door ding(removed) and drip rail chrome. its just hard when its a daily driver and your money is very tight.

I found a elect. dist. at the bone yard for $25 for my 67 GTX 440. It was quite the find. I pulled the wiring and it had a Edelbrock 750 on it to. So the 67 is getting a little update in power.

A Pertronix is a good basic conversion; for a relatively stock motor it'll work as well as anything else out there. And they're quite easy to install.

One trick you can do if you want a step up but don't want a huge orange or red box taking up real estate under the hood is to take a stock Mopar electric distributor and wire it up to a 4 pin GM HEI module. The HEI is pretty powerful, a bit more easily hid, and it lets you do away with the ballast resistor. I know it's not Mopar, but at least you can get HEI modules that were never built by GM either. :)
