Hello all, I'm new here.
I hope I'm posting this in the right place.
This year I got myself a new toy, since then I'm trying to make it look and perform as I wanted...
Car is 1971 Duster with 471 motor, 727, 8 3/4 rear and 4.11 gears.
Currently in the rear I have GoodYear 275/60/15s on 9 inch rims and major traction issue. Tires are old and I guess this has big influence on traction.
Car is not tubbed, only rear springs were brought in but wheel wells are stock. I wanted as stock look as possible with as many horses as you can get. Wider wheel wells are an option, but for now I want to try what I can get without cutting and welding involved.
My current Good Year 275/60-15 tires measure:
Tire Diameter 28.00 in.
Section Width 10.70 in.
Tread Width 8.90 in.
With these tires on it seems that there is some space for bigger tire.
Now I read as much as I could online about what fits my car and honestly wanted to go to some place with large variety of tires to put on different sizes and see what is what... great idea but not possible since all the tires I want need to be ordered first in all the places near me.
Tires I'm thinking about are:
M&H Racemaster 275/60-15
Tire Diameter 28.20 in.
Section Width 11.70 in.
Tread Width 10.00 in.
Tubeless
MT Street Radial 295/55-15
Tire Diameter 27.80 in.
Section Width 12.00 in.
Tread Width 10.90 in.
Tubeless
MT ET Street 28x12.5-15
Tire Diameter 28.10 in.
Section Width 12.60 in.
Tread Width 10.00 in.
Need tubes(?)
All of these should fit there without problems, MT Drag Radials are tempting due to large contact area but look a bit modern for my taste.
For now my number one is M&H Racemaster... Is it a good choice?
I guess some of you have these tires in exact same size. Could you post any comments about traction?
Also would be great to see pictures of Dusters with these on!
Strange to me is the fact that all of mentioned tires have 10" thead width. Only MT is 10.90...
... and 440 stickers are already gone, rear bumper replaced and many other things done...
Will show the whole car when all is done, almost there :toothy8:
Hope my English is acceptable :glasses7:
