I am trying to replace the front fender marker lights on my 71 Scamp. Can anyone explain how I get the covers off? I do not want to break the lenses.

Take the whole marker light off the car as an assembly first. Then you can disassemble it easier.....
I'm currently working on some myself. Here are some pics to show you what you are dealing with. Remove the bolts holding the bulb in and then clean up and squeeze the tabs to remove the lens from the housing. If the tabs break, and they probably will, use two sided tape to put them back in. You may be able to push them out through the bulb hole and you might have to pry a little from the outside. Then you can unscrew the housing from the car. Hope this helps.
