Took out headliner and seen roof support doesn't touch the roof anymore. What is the proper way to fix this? It's about a quarter inch from roof on one side.

I don't know about "any more" - I don't think it ever did. I put Dynamat sound deadening in my 70 Dart GT last year and tucked it under the brace all the way side to side on all the roof braces. I don't think the brace was meant to ever touch the roof. It would rattle like a giant tin can.
