72 duster 360 NA to 390 Turbo

Any idea if $350 cdn is a fair price?
I honestly don’t know, I’m not familiar with what used Cummins turbos go for. A Chineseium VS racing 78/75 can be had for $40 more and people go 8’s with that turbo. Not sure what your overall goal is.
 
I’d love to hear how your combo does with an s480.

As for that Wh1c, it would be a good turbo for a 4 cylinder. Don’t buy it.

It's overpriced anyways at $300 cdn.

But I am pretty curious how to go about a turbo big block set up. Nothing crazy , say no more than 8 lb boost. 500 hp on the motor
 
Went to the track today. Picked on a new 1320 Scatpack challenger. Overall car did great, could’ve done better, but successful!
Observations are as follows:
Need a better converter, this thing doesn’t foot brake that well. 1.83 was the best after bringing it up on the converter to 2300. Also going to investigate a 2 step so I can leave on come boost.

Need more boost! Limited to 6.5 psi even though I had a boost bleeder plumbed in. I will need to look at the gate pressure springs and see if I put the lightest ones back in!!!

Better shifter!! I column shift this thing and hit the rev limiter 2 times while shifting and missed 2nd and went to 3rd and then pulled back into 2nd.

Best time was a 11.72 with a 114 mph. More to come and I will try to upload the videos my cousin recorded of me.

Awesome. 114mph shows it’s making some steam. And if that’s at 6-1/2 pounds you’ve got plenty more.
 
Thanks, yes i was a little upset that i couldn't get more. i was trying to watch the track, shift and watch the boost and afr gauges. Afr was good also. to be continued....
 
Got my boost issue fixed. The spring on the boost bleed had gotten pushed into the T off the turbo. Went to the local 1/8 mile track this evening for more testing. It was packed!! Got 2 runs. 60ft sucks, but I made 97 mph. We are on 9 lbs, 12.3afr. Terrible 7.80s hit rev limit on the big end. Air was pretty good. Gonna need to jet up and then add a pound or so of boost. Drove it there and back (48) miles with no issues Videos will be loading soon.
 
My computer is going thru some windows 10 disk cleanup nonsense. Will try tomorrow for uploading video. At least I have a pic for your viewing pleasure.

Anyone else drive there turbo junk this weekend? Cleaned it up and went for a long drive. Can’t do much test/tune until I spring for a new converter. We entering into “boost weather” in beautiful NC.

Back at the track tonight. Last TNT for this track. Temps were in the 50s and a head wind. Not ideal but made it work. 1st run it spun violently going to second, abort! 2nd run I let off before the MPH cone. 3rd run spun into second but I held it. Mph is slower then over the summer by 3mph, I guessing the wind. Excuses, Excuses!!!
60ft was decent, happy with it.
Boost was 10psi. 11.4 afr and 18 degrees of timing. Drove the 48 miles there and back . Stepson videoed so hopefully I can post that also. Enjoy the blurry photo! Haha

3:23 gears 275/60/15 drag radials and heads are gasket matched to the intake. Has cometic headgaskets.
While I have improved the 60ft quite a bit by experimenting with launch RPM, I’m gonna install a 2 step and see if we can improve. I feel confident the converter is holding me back. It’s a ACC boss Hogg 3200.

What are you running for rear shocks? I imagine a 2 step should get you full boost at your launch rpm(built into the super sniper you talked about!). Does the converter stall at 3200 NA, or is that with boost?

I’m still hoping you go the s480 route at some point!

Rear shocks are some old MP drag shocks for super stock springs. I’m sure there are better offerings now. I have some 90/10 Lakewood shocks for the front that a friend gave me of his car that I haven’t installed yet.

Coverter will flash stall to 3k or so. I am leaving at 2800-3k and no boost☹️.

I would like to or at the least a VS7875. Subcom installed one I believe and it lights off quicky
Prices have come down and I was planning on redoing the hotside over the winter.
