Will a 71-72 Front Bumper fit on my 73 Duster? That's all I see for sale from various vendors. Thanks.

With the correct bumper brackets, it may "fit", but it's smaller, contoured differently and probably won't look right.
'73 uses standard bolt on the frame brackets also, but the bumper side mounting is different than the earlier models.

The pre-'73 bumpers are straight across, or flat or however you want to call it. There's no "peak" in the middle to match up with the grille. Your picture shows it really well actually

Being a '73 you don't have a shock mounted bumper, so, you could bolt up a pre-'73 bumper. The brackets are probably different on the bumper side but they're the same at the frame mounts. The problem would be the bodywork- the grille and lower filler panel.

Oh yeah - that is the problem all right.

Actually, the problem is $1500 to re-plate the 40 footer that's on it now:(

Cheers, Larry

Yeah, no kidding. My bumper is a bit messed up where the bumperettes were, so needs a bit of labour. Besides that, there are only about 3 chrome shops left in the whole of greater Vancouver, and the environmental charges must be through the roof. I've gotten that price from a couple of different places. We're very environmentally "enlightened" up here in Canada. (Translation - all levels of government love to tax the sh** out of us whenever they can in the name of the environment).

Wow, that is expensive! Both mine are in good shape but I alsways wondered what it would cost to get them looking mint. How far south would you have to drive down the I5 to find a replating place a would it still be cheaper after the $ conversion?

I was thinking of calling Queen City Plating, just north of Seattle about 2+ hours down I5.

This bumper is not on my 'critical path' right at the moment so I might wait a while to see if this exchange rate thing calms down a bit.

Although the Tri City plating lead above looks promising as they've already got the cores.

Don't know why, but I always feel like our local vendors want to put their kids through college with every sale.
