Newbie here,
Just drove home my "new" 72 scamp. Aftermarket rear wheels 14 x 8 slot mags were causing the tires to rub the rear fender. So I'm going to have to put the stock wheels on until I can find mags that will work. Fronts were 14 x 6 and not causing problems. I haven't pulled the wheels off yet but it looks like 4" backspacing on current mags.
Original wheels are 14 x 4.5 with 4.25" back spacing.
I was looking at 14 x 5.5 with 3" back spacing, but I'm concerned about rubbing again.
Can anyone tell me what a safe wheel size and back spacing work with keeping the car stock? I know wheels are limited for these small bolt pattern wheels.
Any all advise is welcomed. Thanks in advance.
