727 feels different with new engine. Am i going mad?

Hi guys.

I installed a new 440 to replace my tired stock BB and hooked it up to the existing 727 with shift kit and 1750 MP stall. Since the first drive it has felt weird. It dosent coast at all when you get off the gas - even down hill.

It feels like a stick shift does when you are in a low gear in high revs and get off the gas - car slows quickly and just doesn't coast. I am running the same 3.55 rear.

I know it didnt feel like it before but I havent changed anything with the trans or rear so I am baffled. It is actually not as enjoyable as it was to drive (except except with 4 barrels open).

Any ideas or am I really going crazy?

Do the rpms drop fast too or just speed? Didn't do any brake work inbetween engines did you?

RPM and speed. Didnt touch the brakes.

Did you adjust the kickdown linkage after driving and noticing the problem? I took out my trans an put it back in and had to adjust the linkage....Wasn't shifting right.....Adjust and back on the road for me....

When you put in the shift kit you may have done something the directions said to so you keep the gear engaged, like a manual vb does
