I'm totally ignorant when it comes to transmissions, so I'll explain this the best I can. I'll try and post pics when I get home.

67 Barracuda 383 w\ TF A727

The guy before me removed the original shifter and mounted a Hurst shifter further back over the trans tunnel. The shift cable runs down to the two levers on the transmission but is not connected to anything.

One lever is tied off with bailing wire??? (rednecks)
Can anyone explain what the two levers do? I assume one of them shifts...lol

THanks,
Wes

top one down shifts from carb. kickdown. bottom for shifts. remove top one if using manual cable shifter. right boys? been 4spd shiften too many years now. lol

The top lever is the throttle valve lever , many people incorrectly refer to it as the kickdown lever , if it's tied back it's because it's still an automatic shift valve body , if it were a manual shift only valve body it would not be used , the lower lever is the gear selector , that get connected to your shifter .

Bouchillion has a cable linkage that you can use in place of the redneck TV linkage , you must have the TV connected or you will burn up the front clutch in the trans from insufficient fluid pressure .

JohnRR is right about the throttle pressure lever (the top one). If it's not hooked up and properly adjusted the trans. will not shift right and will burn up fast.

I'll check out Bouchillion John.

Thanks so much guys!
