Can a71 dart w/a 727 trans be towed 4 down? Its got 351 gears in the rear if that's a concern

Pull the driveshaft and drain some trans fluid from the transmission. Plastic bag and some rubber bands over the trans output shaft and your ready to tow! 65'
Take the drive shaft off and install a trans yoke and wire it in so it don't fall out. Its the tail shaft bushing that will wear with no fluid going to it. Short distance should be OK
Cross country
Better get her up on a car trailer for cross country, especially with those deep gears.
Then you don't need to pull the drive shaft and all that. And it won't be wrenching on your steering (hope you don't have power steering) with the tow bar tow.
Flat towing with no front pump going will destroy almost every bushing in that trans connected with the output shaft before you get to the next town.

Yes you can tow it but you need to remove the drive shaft and plug the tail shaft on the trans.

Somewhere buried in the owners? service? manuals there are recommendations on towing. My recollection is that they can be towed --driveshaft in place-- for SHORT distances at LOW speeds.

Remove the drive shaft from the rear yoke. Leave the shaft in the trans, wire it up. Tape the u joint to protect the u joint bearing cups.
4 bolts and you can reassemble easily.
No trans fluid spills.

Thanks everyone tow truck was funny I'm taking a RV cross country. Guess I'll buy a couple of electric scooters for the beer runs

That's how I always flat towed any of my vehicles for a long distance. A little bit of work, but no chance in anything going wrong.
