Hi All,

Just wondering if any of you wrenches knew some tricks for a quick toe in DIY garage alignment? I know one of my wheels is pointing way right on its toe in to the other wheel when straight. There must be a trick to measure from the center of the car to the center of the wheel to get a general parallel setup on the front wheels.

Thanks!

Bump and update. I positioned one wheel to what look straight, then I adjusted the tie rod on the left side until the both looked straight. The entire car has changed for me. I replaced the Pitman and Idler Arm and ajusted the Tie Rod, the car goes straight and doesn't pull anymore when applying the brakes. However, this is only a quick fix and does need a professional alighnment.

Pit stop special back in the day. Hypothetically, let's say there should be one inch of toe-in. Take a string and measure half way between the bottom of the tire and the rear most part of the tire. Mark string. Go around to front of tire at the same height and adjust toe-in until it is ½" less than the mark. It's quick, dirty, and in no way a replacement for sticking the car on a real alignment machine run by a competent tech.
