I'm moving forward with my project.I am working on getting heat.My question is with a non ac system is there a cable that runs through the firewall to the heater hose to work a heater valve...

So how does that work for heat
The sliders on the dash work by opening and closing doors in the heater box to mix the air to be cooler or warmer. then of course you have fan speed and the selector to choose between heat or defrost.

There is no valve unless the car has AC. If equipped, the valve works by vacuum (controlled by the push button switch) to shut when the AC is used so that no heated water is passing into the heater core. The heat only box (non AC) receives heated water through the heater core at all times.

Great thanks.... Thoughts on the best replacement for the cables. One of mine is broke

I would ask members here by creating a wanted ad or try to find a salvage yard in your area and pull one. I have a 72 with AC and tried using new replacement cables but they weren't the right length...even though they were supposed to be. In the end, I had to find some good originals
