Does a '70 - '72 Duster rear bumper fit a '73 Duster
...or was the rear bumper changed in '73?

Does your 73 have the shock system or is it mounted with brackets? I have a thread in which I show how I did mine but you need to fab up an acceptable mount for where the shock set up is deleted. You use the larger of the two stock 70-72 brackets after drilling a mounting hole in the rear valance. This is easily located and drilled as the inner sheet metal brace is still punched for the bracket bolt. Because there is a opening in the valance for the shock to pass through there is no mount for the smaller bracket so a new mount needs to be made. See page 5 of my build thread link below "Jack of Trades".

I'm unfamiliar, if they even came that way in 73, with a bracket mounted bumper.

i have been looking at some pictures of a '73 340 Duster and the rear
bumper seems to tuck up tight in the rear like my '70 Duster did.....

Ahh thought you were wanting to do a swap. They started the implementation of the 5 mph crash bumpers in 73 but I think there were also standard bumpers used (guessing to use up stock). My 74 had shocks in the rear but brackets in the front.

New guy here. I just picked up my 73 Duster on Saturday and as I was taking off the rear bumper guards today I saw that the bumper is mounted to brackets and the bumper is pulled up fairly close to the body. But, the more I look at the bumper the more I realize it's really not salvageable and the local chrome shops are wanting over $500 so I started looking for repos and that's when I see there are no 73 bumpers available anywhere. Assuming the rear bumper didn't change, just the way it was mounted, I suppose I can use a 72 bumper. Help me if I'm wrong please.
