What is the high pressure line supposed to look like on a 73 slant with a federal ( chrysler ) pump??

I had the pressure line on my slant spring a leak, took it down to the parts place and the one from a 73 in the computer didn't match what I had, but the one for a 74 did. Bought it and it turns out to be the wrong part. I did get it to bolt up by (ahem), "bending" it a smidge but it's REALLY close to the pulley for the pump ( loops out to the front )

Anyone have any pictures of it installed? I looked back through some posts with engine pics but it seems there is a number of different hoses in the pics.

Does this help?

You can gently bend it over a long distance to get it away from the pulley.

A little. I'll post a pic of what the one on my car looks like......
So here is what it looks like as if you were looking in the car at the drivers fender, so the left side of the picture is the pump side and the right side connects to the steering box.

Well I cross referenced your pic with the autozone site and came up with this part number 80127, but it still doesn't look right. The bends look like they are opposite. This one ( 70353 ) is more like the one you have but it says it's for no A/C.
I did manage to bend the metal end on the hose to get it to fit, but it's REALLY close to the pulleys...

Oops,
I failed to see the key word in your post -slant-. Mine is a 340.

Sorry about that.

Anybody with a /6 ps care to chime in??

Looks like you are going to need to find the build date on your car. There is one hose listed for Dec 16 and older and one for Dec 17 and newer. You could always cheat and take your old hose to an industrial hydraulic shop and have one made. They will take your old tubing ends and make a new hose for 10-15 bucks. Sometimes that's the only way to get what you want.

No prob Dave.

Grump, I was thinking of that anyway because the stock line that I've seen in pictures looks like it will interfere with where I had planned to put the turbo. The problem with the hose I already have is that it apparently is the wrong one.

Is there any reason for the front of the line to have so much metal? Is it for oil cooling or something? Could it just have a 90* fitting at the pump and box and the rest be rubber? I know that the pump moves with the engine and the steering box stays put on the frame but it just seems odd that all of the hoses listed have extra coils and/or bends in them.

Well, I guess I'm on a mission to find a hydraulic place around here.
